Funding for 3 and 4 Year Olds
Parents may be eligible to claim up to 30 hours per week of funded childcare for their 3 and 4 year olds.
This funding can be split between nursery schools and private day nurseries.
How funding is typically accessed during term time:
- Children can usually receive up to 10 hours per week in a nursery school setting
- And up to 20 hours per week in a private day nursery setting, such as The Learning Tree Monmouth
School holidays:
When schools are closed for holidays, families can usually claim the full 30 funded hours per week at a private nursery setting.
Funding period:
Funding is available for 48 weeks of the year.
This means 4 weeks per year are unfunded, and fees for those weeks are payable by parents.

Flying Start Funding for 2 and 3 Year Olds
The Learning Tree Monmouth is a registered Flying Start provider!
Families who are eligible for Flying Start funding can receive up to 12.5 hours of funded childcare per week during term time at our Monmouth nursery.
Flying Start funding:
• Is available to eligible families living within qualifying postcode areas
• Typically begins from the term after your child turns two
• Is delivered in line with Welsh Government Flying Start guidelines
